You had a shot. You were given the opportunity of a lifetime. Kids see you and think to themselves "one day, that'll be me. One day, I want to be just like Johnny Manziel."
We've seen it time and time again, yet it still always amazes me when I see it happen. Johnny Manziel has officially been released from the Cleveland Browns and justifiably so. He has been nothing but problem after problem since he was drafted so it's hard to argue with their decision. It isn't hard, however, to argue with Manziel's decision. There are millions of people out there who would die for the chance that Johnny Football had been given. He had the skill and ability. Had he focused more on football, he may have done what no one has been able to do since Jim Brown - turn the Cleveland Browns into winners. I'm sure that is what the Browns were hoping for when they drafted him, too. Unfortunately for them, they received an immature brat instead. He was given multiple chances and blew each and every one of them. With all the trouble he has stirred in just a couple of years as a "professional", I'd be dumbfounded if Johnny is given another shot without a strong showing of maturation. Johnny probably always wanted to be number 1 and lucky for him, he still might be. Number 1 biggest draft bust, that is. Congrats, Johnny, there's your legacy and you have no one to blame but good ol' #2. |
